BEE BALM monarda .
Botanical Name Monarda fistulosa a/k/a wild Bergamot or Bee Balm
When growing it has beautiful pink flowers and leaves . When dried, the flowers are purple as shown in my picture. This type of bee balm, also called Oswego Tea, was used among native Americans for making tea and other medicinal preparations.
Bee Balm leaves and flowers and stems are used in alternative medicine as an antiseptic, carminative, diaphoretic, diuretic and stimulant. A medicinal infusion is used internally in the treatment of colds, catarrh, headaches, and gastric disorders, to reduce low fevers and soothe sore throat, to relieve flatulence, nausea, for menstrual pain, and insomnia.
