This is not the wild marjoram AKA oregano. This is sweet marjoram.It is often used in Italian herb blends and works well in soups, sauces, and salad dressings.
Marjoram (Origanum vulgare)
on the culinary end Marjoram is used in sausages, lamb, beef, pork, chicken, fish, tomato dishes, stuffings, breads, salad dressings and chowders.
Marjoram is also a medicinal herb and works as an Antiseptic, Anti-spasmodic, Carminative, Diaphoretic, Emmenagogue, Expectorant, Ruberfacient, Stimulant, Tonic.
It is used in teas to relieve the symptoms of colds, flu, and fevers. It has been found to be effective as a digestive aid for indigestion, sour stomach and to eliminate gas. Marjoram is also good for nausea associated with menstruation and for sever cases of abdominal cramps.
The ancient folks called marjoram the "joy of the mountains".
